1992 Ford Explorer

my 1992 ford explorer wont start, replaced battery, and tried to jump start it with another car didint work. when trying to jump start or start with new battery i get one click/ turn over then everything shuts down. no lights, horns, or power assc. if i let it sit for a cuople of hours power comes back put as soon as i turn key nothing, i hear nothing car is completety dead. please help dont have money for shop
