vauxhall date display problem

Hi, iv just fitted a kenwood stereo to my 2001 astra sxi. Ive bought a adaptor to use my steering wheels controls with the new stereo and it works fine. The thing i want to do is when i first turn the car on the date and time are on the display at the top of the dash but the date goes off (time stays on). I want the date to stay on if at all possible. Can anyone help??? (NOTE Obviously before with the standard stereo the date went off and the radio station came on but now its just blank because i have changed stereo's)

Disconnect/cut the electric aerial output feed from your stereo and the date will stop on all the time
