96 speaker help

Does a 1996 grand am need an amp for 600w four way speakers?

depends...do ya want 600 watts? ya only get out what ya put in...if your head unit is putting out 50x4 thats what your "600 watt" speakers are doing.. in short..you need an amp

I have the original in dash cassette player, but I'm eventually putting in the in dash cd player. Don't know if that helps.
