A tire question, yeah I know

I've searched these forums and can't seem to come up with a straight answer. I'm looking to buy some new wheels (rims, whatever) and tires to set of the "stance" of my truck. I'm not talking dubs, but I'm going with a 16" wheel, and that brings my question about the tires. I'm looking to get a set of wide tires, that stick out maybe an inch out past the fenders. So what tires should I get? I'd like to keep the price low but still want a tire that won't crap out. Am I looking for an 11" tire here. The picture attached is what I'm talking about. It's not my truck, but it's what i'm going for tire/wheel wise.

The tires on mine are 10.5" on a 20" wheel. I would suggest going to a tire place (tirebarn, discount tire, ect...) and see what the largest width you can put on a 16" wheel. There are a couple fellows on here more knowledgable than me in this subject, so they might have a direct answer for you. There are web calcultors for tires, but am unsure if they will calculate your particular need.

In the end, you may want to consider going with a 18" or 20" wheel. Their price is very reasonable compared to 3-4 yrs ago. My set was $230each. Tires were another $200each mounted, balanced and warrantied.

I've put 16 x 8 rims on mine, but still have the dealer 235/75's. I plan on going with a 245/65 or 255/65 when these wear out. The wheels have a 3 5/8" rear offset and put the tires right about where you were asking about in relation to the outer fender. They are almost flush with the flares. I paid $575 for all 4 wheels. The new tires I want won't be appreciably wider at the rim but will add 1 - 1 1/2" of tread on the ground. If you're looking at inches, a 245 wide tire, is 10" at the shoulders, there are 24.5mm per inch. Hope this helps. If you look at my gallery, I think there may be a frontal shot of the truck with the wheels, before flares.

the widest you can put on a 2wd is a 265/75 without any modifications or rubbing, or possibly a 285/75 with some trimming. ive read on here u can run a 285/75 on a 4x4 without any rubbing or trimming, but i can't say for sure seeing as i only have a 2wd. if you go with the 265s a 16x8 rim would work nice to give u the look you are after. thats how mine should look when i finally get rims. if you want the tire to stand out a bit more go with an all terrain or mud terrain like the bfg's i have.

I have a 295mm series tire on mine with no rubbing. My wheel is 10.5", as mentioned above, with a 5.5"offset, I believe.

Depends on if you want a street tire for comfort and grip - or an all terrain tire for 4x4 and combined use. My truck has P275/55s in a 20 inch wheel/tire with about an 8 inch rim width. Not the cheapest choices - but long term dependable use and good street traction wet, dry, heat or frozen conditions (Wis. winters). Comfortable riding tires.

ive got the 305-45-22 and had minor rubbing but with minimal mods got it all clearing. check in my sig and click the car domain link and check it out this is with a 2 inch rear drop also.

Go witha 16x10 in wheel.

Sorry to bring the topic back up, but will a 275/60 tire work. I seen what I want my tires to look like on a truck at the dealership and that's what the tire read. Will this let the tire stick out a little from the fenders? And also a buddy of mine said I can't get a 15" on an 04 because the rotor is 16 inches? Is this true?

If you saw what you like at a dealership, then that's what you should get. If it's a little too wide, you can always add flares later. And no, you can't mount 15"s on an 04 or later. They will not clear the brake calipers. I tried it with an old 15" wheel I had at home, and you'd have to have some kind of STUPID outside offset to make it work. You'd end up looking like one of those Hondas with all of the tire hanging outside of the fender. ICK!!! Unless of course, you can find someone that makes aftermarket 15" rotors and calipers for these models.................
