i raced a subaru tonight on the highway coming home from the berling turnpike. he put up a good fight but he wasn't able to keep up very long. i remember hitting 130 in 5th at like 6000 rpm. he couldn't keep up.
i dunno what he had done. but i've seen him around west haven sometimes. car's pretty nice. but like i said, i'm not sure what motorwork was done...
i think it was an impreza. anyone know what HP/times that car has?

i looked at imprezas before i bought my civic. they early through mid 90s (those are the years i could afford) had a whopping 115 hp. but i think the newer ones are alot more respectable

Must have been the older models. The 93-97 Imprezzas mostly came with a 1.8L SOHC Flat-4 that put out 110hp and 110ft/lbs. The car generally weighed 2600+ lbs. Generally not a powerful car.
There were a few 2.2L SOHC Flat-4s in those years... but even they only had 135hp and 140ft/lbs of torque.
There was a slight increase in 97 on the 2.2L. But they really didn't have a decent car till the 2.5 RS in 98. That has a 2.5L DOHC Flat-4 with 165hp and 162 ft/lbs.
Then of course there's the WRX... but we all know about that one.

i don't have a fuel cut off at 120 like most civics do. i beat my friends h22 hatch on highway runs because his cuts out at 120. ;) but he wins at the beginning of course. and if i had 14" rims instead of these huge 17's i would be able to redline 5th. but after redlining 4th and shifting quick to 5th i hit 130 and my revs hold at about 6000 and very slowly make it down to 5500. :( when i had my steelies, my needle used to go off the little number scale ;) but i'm sure it wasn't accurate at those speeds.
