Something I've been tinkering with for a while...
A Tamiya Lotus 7, an RX-7 motor I made a resin copy of, modified wheels and tires from a Mini 4WD...
Converted to left hand drive...
A handful of scratchbuilt parts...
More to come as I get around to it... - Mark

Thanks.
I narrowed them as well as the tires on the lathe.
I changed the offset on them too by machining the back sides of the spokes.
They measure out to 16 inchers.
Aluminum centers were made as well as lock nuts.
The kit spindles and rear axle were replaced with brass stock.
The tires were reshaped and tapered (staggered) to compensate for the cone shape of the rims. Added valve stems too... - Mark

The wheel/tires on the right are the rears and have been narrowed, but not shaped.
The others are the fronts and still "stock".

Here they are during a test fitting.
The foot wells have been swapped and you can see where the old header outlet was and the new one is...

Well this you might consider a novel idea! Looks like it's going to be a winner! I also hope that You made a lot of copies of that engine (one for me?) :naughty:

Brilliant idea!
Can't wait to see how you superdetail it.
Omg this is gonna rock!

Thanks all.
This one is just for fun, I'm not going to super detail it. Don't laugh.
Sorry, no motors for sale, it's not even a complete engine set in resin. I only made copies because I have this and another project that I wanted to use a Wankel in, and only one motor.
I also machined the pulleys and distributor, scratchbuilt a header, thermostat housing, air cleaner and other detail items, so even if I offered what I cast, there still remains a lot of work to use it. It would be cheaper, and certainly easier, to buy the Tamiya Mazda kit.
You'll have to wait to see what the next rotary powered car I have planned is, but it's an obvious choice to me... - Mark

I can't wait so I'm going to guess an MX-5. Doesn't get any more obvious than that?

Nope, not an MX-5, but you did make me think about casting one more...

I finished the LHD part of the mods and made a new dash with C/F and Auto Meter gauges.
Still plenty to do, but it is a nice diversion from serious building... - Mark

Wow! What a cool project, and beautifully executed, as well. I've been a Mazda fanatic for years, and this is purely music to my ears.

Keep it up!

Nice idea. I recently saw a real Lotus 7 with a rotary engine for sale in our local paper. Must've been a beast!
