I have been searching the forums for hours on the proper procedure to adjust my ignition timing on my 92 eclipse gs

i dont see a distributor that i could adjust like on my honda motors so i can figure out how i turn the ignition timing up or down

You adjust it w/ the CAS (cam/crank angle sensor). Try this link http://www.plymouthlaser.com/timin.htm. Advancing the ignition timing will yield nice results on this motor, but adjust w/caution. Advancing to far will cause knock. You'll need higher octane fuel as you advance to prevent knock. Stock ignition timing is 5deg BTDC, mine is set to ~10degBTDC and must use at least 91 octane (4g63NA doesn't require premium fuel w/factory setup).

In simple terms, if you hear a pinging sound from the motor @ full throttle in the low range using premium fuel, you've advanced to far.

BTW, are you sure you've searched?, there is more then enough info on this topic, have you checked the sticky thread FAQ?. I'm being nice, but not much effort is required to find info on ignition timing for these cars.

Toward the firewall is retard, toward the radiator is to advance.
