Ripped an RCA plug apart...

I have some ungodly tight monster RCA cables running to my sub amp and I had to pull them off the leads from my headunit to rerun some wires... well in the process it was so tight it ripped the entire metal end right out of the lead (hard to explain in detail but you should get the general idea) anyhow it's now not possible to hook that RCA up anymore so I essentially have 1 working sub out.

For right now I setup a splitter and run both sub channels off the one split.

My question is, is this bad? I could cut the broken end off, solder on a new one, but that means uninstalling the stereo which is a pain... I could try to have it RMAd which is also a pain...

Does splitting this RCA out to my sub make any real difference? Does it cut it's power or effect it's quality?

I hate that it's damaged but at this point I don't really want to make it more work than it's worth.

BTW this is a JVC KD-AVX1

so you fucked up the pre-out on the deck? That's what I'm hearing, what you could do is cut the preout right near the plug, then solder a whole new plug onto it. you just need another rca from something and cut that one with about three inches of wire, then strip and solder. It kinda sucks but it works. Good luck.

PS If I read the post wrong, and you fucked the monster cable, they're warrantied for life, so just get it replaced at your local car audio shop. (that deals with Monster of course)

Nope, fucked up the pre out :)

I am gonna try soldering a new one on later today, hopefully it's as easy as I think it will be.

I didn't know monster was warrantied for life... nice, I have an xbox cable on the fritz...
