Replacing my 95's headlights

im looking to replace the headlight assemblies in my 95 blazer. i look to do the grille conversion, but not for about a year. i need something brighter, because they really really suck. any recomendations, and correct me if im wrong but theyre 4x6?

I have cool blues in my 91 and there bright.Xenons are bright too.

I kept the same grille and composite lights in my truck too - something about preserving that "classic look" appealed to me. But the immediate improvement for the lights is switching to Sylvania Silverstars. They throw quite a nice, bright white light a ways down the road - and are 50-state legal. Some states/counties have laws against "Hyperwhite/blue" lights, so check with your local constabulatory if in doubt.

I read a couple weeks Highway Transportation agency whatever official name for it is cant think of it right now is gonna look into those hyperwhite blue lights since so many people are complaing.

the 95's stock lights suck?

I don't think so, people flash me sometimes even when I have them on low beams.

is any1 sure of the size, and or where i can get the Sylvania Silverstars? thanks

My '95 with the composite lamps uses 9006 and 9005 bulbs. (Low and high beam, respectively) Remember that your regular low beams are on top, high beams on the bottom. I picked up my Sylvania bulbs up at Walmart, but I have seen them at Autozones and O'Reilley's Auto Parts too.

of course mine are sealed beam, i like the composite look alot better, but besides the fact. does any1 know the size i need like 4656 or 4666 etc. im lost with this!

Halogen Headlamp (Sealed Beam) Quantity: 2 Trade #: 2E1 <- That's the number you look for on the parts cross reference when upgrading. Checking Sylvania's online guide for this bulb, it crosses over to:

Don't waste your time with the Sylvania Silverstars they suck to!! I bought a headlight conversion kit. The only problem us Blazer 96ers will have is the harness not matching up with the new bulbs so I sat in front of my truck thinking what the hell I can do with the damn harness and decided to cut it and put 3 wire plugs on (1 on each wire). Now my lights are very bright. I even got some cars flashing me with only my low beams on.. :) love it!!

DO NOT use the silverstars. There the most worthless headlights on the market. I had a set of these in my Blazer and within a month, they blistered just like getting a burn blister and turned black, not one but both of them.
definatly go with the Cool blues by Silvania No;6054 i think. I had a set of the silverstars in my semi, they did the same thing, took about a month and they blistered and turned black. I now use the cool blues and im a happy camper

I run the ebay blue Xenon bulbs.

Probaly turned out to work that way because you did not install them properly. When I replace *any* bulb, especially hyper-hot burning lamps - NEVER touch the quartz tube/bulb. Ever. Wear gloves if you have to to keep your mits and the oils on them from contaminating the surface. My Silverstars are almost a year old now and they still burn brilliant blue/white since the day I had them. Handling the bulbs will turn them all blistery-black or make them generate heat from retaining so much of it as the oils from your fingerprints burn off and turn that color. Then as a result, the heat transfers to your reflector/lens assembly and does even more damage. Check what you're doing before you blame a part. ;) Silverstars/Sylvania and Osram products are top notch all the way.

Ah yes, this is what probably happeded in his case.

I have to agree. My Silverstars are also over a year old and just as bright as day one.

I know how to replace these bulbs.Im not dumb.i used gloves and only touched the metal part when i installed them. both sets only lasted a month

Oh well, everything is fine now.

No sense arguing over something that is fixed.

Work great, and wow the low beam is crazy bright.
