Rear Right Door 1997 Astro Van

Rear door handle cracked in two pieces(soft metal) and door cannot be opened. Parts of the handle are still attached, not sure of the correct assembly needed to fix? I was told there are different types Plastic? or Metal? and I would have to open the door to verify?
The handles seem to be a common problem, very weak metal? All handles on vans in local scrap yard also broken.

Suggestions?

I think www.rockauto.com has the replacement part you need. I can't say whether it's metal or plastic though.

How would I replace the door handle, my handle is metal. I can't even get the door open.
