problem with 98 civic with jdm b18c

Ok this is for my friends 1998 civic. With a b18c gsr motor from japan. He just put a b18c jdm motor in it( the motor only has 20000 miles on it) and has been driving on it for 3 months. But now as he drives it will all of a sudden just act like its losing power and all the gages will go from 0 to max and back and forth. And it loses vtec. Then it will just stop! And every thing will work again. It has a AEM cold air intake, DC sports headers, MSD ign., And a high flow cat. I think thats every thing hes got of the top of my head. Its pissing us off!!! If anyone can help we would be greatful as hell.

whats losing power?

electrical? engine? gauges are actually jumping from max to 0? what gauges? better description would be nice.

The motor loses power and seems to want to run like sh*t. It fells like somethimg draging or a belt broke then its just fine. All the gages do it at the same time. Sorry was late and was working on it all night to try to fine out what it was.
