Well, hello everyone! My name is Josh and I'm the proud new owner of a silver birch 2005 Chevrolet Silverado 4x4, 4.8L(upgraded from a 2000 Cavalier...).
I'd just like to start off by saying that I'm inpressed so far with my truck...except for the 15mpg decrease in fuel economy, but hey...I needed a four wheel drive V8 truck. Didn't I?
I decided to go all out and get everything my little heart desired with my truck, all the bells and whistles. Might as well since I'll be paying for it forever....
I do have to go back to the dealer to get the truck undercoated, "paint protection", spray-in bedliner, and Corsa exhaust.
Does anyone know if a K&N intake system will interfere with the warranty? I was looking at the FIPK system (PN#63-3050).
About me? I'm a 24 year old police officer in the great state of Missouri. Don't come off to me with a stereotype of any kind. I'm not a prick or an asshat unless I have to be. Anyone actually care to know more I'd be happy to educate you all.

congrats on the new purchase, as far as aftermarket intakes go i bought a volant just because the filter stay enclosed in a box and the materials they use dont transmit heat. and as far as i know im pretty sure it doesnt void the warranty, atleast it didnt void mine. i noticed a bit of an increase in power and efficency, and you can hear the change in the volume of air its pulling in. well with that said welcome and congrats again, hope you like your truck as much as i like mine.

Welcome!! Just provide us your territory and we won't puposely speed through your territory!! J/K.
Why are you getting the body under coated? Even though some parts get a light surface rust they have a great warrenty for rust? I don't see what you will gain from an under coat?
Do know that the gains you will see from the intake and exhaust will be offset inversely by your foot when you want to hear the sound it will make.....
Enjoy!!! :ylsuper:

Hey de ho!! Welcome aboard. I've only been here a short while myself. Air Intakes, electronic tunes, ETC which are 50 state approved will not void your warrenty (it is illegal for a car manufacturer to void a warrenty for after market items, unless the modification itself cause damage). I recently added a K&N Cold Air Intake and am very happy with it. It only took about 40 minutes to install an keeps the Mass Air Sensor from your standard intake. I found mine new (in the factory sealed box) on eBay for $192 + $12 shipping.
Hang around here awhile and you'll pick up all kinds of sweet little tricks to help make your ride run better.

Congrats on the truck and welcome to the boards Josh.
The only question I really have is what made you decide on the 4.8 instead of the 5.3?

I didn't really "decide" on the 4.8, it was just the only truck with all the other options that I wanted, and a color that I liked.
Tell you the truth, the truck will probably never see a trailer, and it'll probably be a good while until it sees any off-road conditions.
I really just needed something that'd be able to get out of it's own way when I pass someone on a rural two lane road....
As for the undercoating...eh, it and the "paint protection," I just figured "what the hell, why not?"
Anyone on here have the Corsa cat-back? $850 is a nice chunk of change, when I grew up on 40 series Flowmasters and the biggest echo tips you could find...
