Logging Knock

I just received my datalogger software by e-mail today. I know the software is used to log rpms, timing, and o2. Is the datalogger software suppose to log knock as well? Or is that the job of the AFC.

Thanxs in advance

From what I've read, the datalogger won't log knock on our cars. You can tell if it is knocking, however, if you see unusual dips in the timing when you are doing a pull. Timing should decrease until you hit full boost and then increase until the end of the gear at WOT. At least thats what I've gathered reading posts and checking out the pocketLogger forums.

DragonofBC is correct, unfortunately without DSMLink, there is no way to log knock on a 2g. When you make a pull the best thing to log is timing, O2 (bank 1), rpm and airflow. Since you don't have larger injectors or a SAFC-II you won't have anything to change but the logger will be good insurance for down the road.

You can "View" knock on an safc2 by using a Bosh sensor.

I've never heard that before......you have my attention

Are you talking about a replacement knock sensor?

Please, tell us more! :)

Heard about this option from a guy running a Twin-turbo 04 Tiburon. Then last week a buddy did it in his GST. Looks like you can use your stock sensor on our cars (Tib you can't). There is supposibly a way to wire up the safc2 to the ecu to intercept the knock signal and display it on the safc2. I don't know much about it.

Like I said, a friend of mine just had his safc2 installed while in portland on vacation. He had never heard about it before either. We're taking his car to the track on friday. Wish i could tell you how its done. But i just dont know.

I run accross all sorts of wird shit you would never expect to learn about or see on Hyundai Performance forums!! I've been preaty active on 2-3 for the last year or so. Their is a guy who wrote a program so he could see the safc2 setting, in 3d on his computer to help find fuel holes. I think its still free if you want a link. I think i even posted somthing about it here a long, long time ago but no one seemed to care.
