In light of the recent contract issues going on, do you all think it's ok for a driver to opt out of his contract a year before he can do so? Is it ok for Kurt Busch and Jamie McMurray to do it? What do you all think?

No, I like Jeff Gordon's perspective. There should be penalties for even talking to another team until the year your contract expires.

well, here's my thing.........why is it ok for Joe Gibbs to let go of Jason Leffler, even though he had a 8 million dollar contract that JGR paid him in addition to his sponsors such as FEDEX, and other guys who want to find loopholes get shafted by the press & fans? Jamie McMurray only signed because he was under the impression that Chip Ganassi was not going to pick up his option of letting him drive another season, thus he wanted to drive for Roush in 2006. Kurt Busch was stupid b/c he's doing this a year and a half in advance saying he's leaving, hoping to opt out of his contract for 2006. If anyone should be made to feel like a jackass should be Busch.

I agree Stang00, he's making a huge mistake leaving Roush, I mean, he won his first championship w/ them and with the equipment and technology that they're always coming up with, they're the best chance he has to win more championships.

Agreed with all above...hope Kurt Busch can get used to NOT winning races!

his switch from Roush to Penske was a surprised to even his own brother, Kyle. In a recent NASCAR.com article, Kurt never mentioned anything to Kyle about his wishes to move on. He said also that they (both Kurt & Kyle) are in the sport to win and set records. I guess Kurt doesn't want to set records like you said street racer, he was with one hell of a race team. The only people I feel sorry for in this whole situation is the crew members. If I were a tire man or jack man and I heard my driver was leaving for another team 18 months before the his time is up, what would be the purpose in coming to the races? Why give your all when the driver, a comrad and friend is a traitor and stabbing you in the back? But that's why those guys are where they're at, they're professionals and they can deal with that, somewhat.
