speedometer

my 94 civic's speedometer dropped to zero for about 10 seconds and then resumed normal operation. then a few days later I was going 60 and it dropped down to 20 and shot back up to 60 again. It has been a week since this has happened.

The cable cannot be broken since it is still operation, right?

Does anyone have any ideas?

your car doesn't have a traditional "speedo cable", it has a sensor and that sensor may be temporarily losing power or its connection to the ECU.
