How much do you think?

Ok I've had this jar on my chest that I've put all my change into at the end of the day. I put all my nickles, dimes, and pennies into it. I've been doing this for almost a year now and the jar is full and won't take a cent more.

I was wondering if anybody on here can guess just how much money is exactly in here.

Anyway, here are a couple of pictures of the jar for you to look at so start guessing.

Is this like those contests they had at elementary school where you got what was in the jar if you guessed right?

If so, I guess $55.

If not, then I withdraw my guess.

Yeah, how big is the actual jar? Looking at it right now, my guess would probably be around 40 bucks or so, but that could change depending on the size of the jar.

Well with no quarters in it...I'm gonna guess <35

American = $25.00
Canadian = $0.50 :lol2:

Don't dimes actually take up less space/$ though? The number of dimes in there will greatly affect the amount.

I need clarification on the rules... Now, I'm assuming you're not giving this money to anyone, but wanted to clarify... is this going to be like The Price Is Right, where you have to have the closest guess without going over the actual amount, or just the closest guess (even if you are over)? This will influence my decision.

haha, i've got you beat. i have an old quarter tub from a Casino, about 5" high by 4" wide, and circular, that is filled to the brim with pennies, dimes and nickels.

do you guys have coin star machines in the states? at some of our grocery stores up here, they have machines where you can take your small change, put it in the machine, and get the same value back in bills and/or larger coins. that's what i'm going to do with mine sometime this week, cause i need cash and i estimate i'd have about $70 at least in my casino tub.

anyways, my guess for yours would be around $45.

I guess I should state the rules.

If you get within 10 cents of the actual amount, you win.
If more than one person is within 10 cents, whoever is the closest wins.

The winner will get a special surprise.

Anyway, I just got done counting it.

My guess is $37.81 (USD).

You may want to specify the duration that guesses will be accepted. You may also want to specify what occurs if there is a tie between two or more guesses (both being equidistant from the actual amount).

C'mon man, do I have to think of everything? :p

Just kidding, just trying to make the contest as difficult as possible for you! :evillol:

If yours is all pennies I'm guessing it has $302 in it. I have a jar like that that I put all my change in. There is about an inch of change in the bottom and it comes to $202.86.

As for the original post, I'm guessing $37.42

$43.78. The Coinstar by my house takes 10% of your money...just go to the bank instead.

$35.75

He has come the closest out of anybody.

The exact count that I took today was...

$35.81

Now Kustm there is some good news and bad news about your prize.

The good news is you get the honor of playing a board game with Bill Gates.

The bad news is it's Monopoly.

It looks like I was 2nd, I guessed $36.47, not too bad.

I had a 5 gal water bottle of only pennies that was about 1 inch short of the top, not counting the narrow part of the neck. It was between $210-220 (I don't remember the exact amount) Zcaithaca's bottle (posted above) is still under $200. For a quick estimate weigh 100 pennies and then weigh the whole bottle. (subtract for the empty bottle)

They were hard as hell to get out. They won't just pour out, they get jammed in the neck.

it looks like all pennies in your picture. Oh well, if you get the different coins in the same amounts i do then you should have about $1000.
