power steering

Just a quick power steering question. Can driving without power steering fluid do damage to your rack&pinion ? Thanks

Why would you drive it without?? It's like $1.47 for a quart, you can afford to get some for it.

well...there was a bad leak ,i tryed to seal it but it dident work. So i decided to cut that part of the line off use a rubber hose and just clamp it right? Well I'v lost like 3 hoses doing so. One of them i know for sure was a pressure hose(I got from a friend). They just keep exploding.And I still need to go to work tonight.

I plan on going to autozone later and seing what they got.

That would be best, i wouldn't drive it to much without the power steering fluid, unless you want to buy a new rack to which will set you back a few hundred.

Yea, i went to autozone they had a tube that was for power steering rated at 1000psi (holy F**K thats alot) well i put that on and it seems to be fine for now.
