They are reliable when compared to our trucks.
I don't know where you pulled out the myth they they are problematic.
God bless the soul that creates something that cuts the imbilical cord with the pump.
OPEC is just finding every excuse in the book to raise the price.
AG Higher than average hurricane year, we have to raise the prices.
The one thing that bothers me is the fact the government is doing nothing about it.
It is like it is free grab that the administration is trying to be blind to.

The local news says that the price of gas has gone up 20 cents in the last 3 weeks......everywhere that I've seen has gone up 40 cents in the last week.

I also think that one(of the many) of the reasons why we pay so much for gas right now is the economy is doing so well for both Canada and the US.
People have more money to spend.... so they won't stop driving just because the price of gas goes up...they can afford it right now....
The sad part is that we all are so dependent on oil, from automakers to the daily commuter. If oil just ran out one day...shit would hit the fan....:2cents:

$2.69 is average price here in Charleston WV area, with a few places $2.55 if you want to drive 30 miles... Of course we pay more damn taxes than most on ours to help pay for our state government's stupid blunders. There was a national survey out a while back that said most people would not do anything about cutting back unless gas hit $3 plus a gallon. Don't know who these clowns called but it was not me. Guess we could put boilers in our trucks and burn coal, but they tax that too!

It has got to. I am gonna start car pooling very soon to try and cut back some. Also, a local store Foodland has there own gas pumps and give you discounts off fuel depending on what and how much you buy. Can add up. kroger has it too, but darn gas station is several miles out of my way. Still, at 10-15 cents discount per gallon, might be worth it.

Isn't it already above 3.00 in California?
I paid $2.78 for regular last night. The prices fluctuate like crazy though, eariler that day the price was $2.59 at the same station!

I am seeing over $3.10 at the pump at a local station, but that is for Premium gas. At another gas station, ALL GRADES were $2.53 and the "Dupree" truck was emptying it's haul into the underground tanks. Cheapest gas in the area is for 81 octane, 2.49 at a Conoco way outside of town. Another station just down the road by the local airport's selling V-power for the same price as regular gas on Tuesdays - currently both are set at $2.53 or so. If gas hits $3/gallon - I'm going to park the rig and walk to work. It will open myself up to the opportunity to walk an hour each way to and from work, but in this heat? I hate showing up in my office sweating... :P

The bitch of it is, that this makes selling 4x4's very difficult. My son parked his 91 Explorer and bought a small car. Even though he has it at well below it's market value he can't get anyone to even come look at it after two months. I see a lot of various SUV's , 4x4's for sale, but not selling worth a crap. May have to wait for winter.

See, hybrid cars suck, and you know why? They're all ugly. I think they purposely make them so ugly so we don't bother to buy them.
Also, if gas prices are so incredibly high, what we need to do is start issuing limits on how much gas we consume or have coordinated days where we can put on gas and can't...
But oh well, i'll still keep driving my blazer till it dies and then I'll get a chevy impala

There is a local used car dealership that has the entire front three rows that face the highway just *filled* with 4x4 Blazers. I got curious and took a look...they are giving them all, first, second and last generations before the Trailblazer *deeeeeeep* discounts. THey can't shift a single one. I asked why and the immediate response was, "Nobody wants a truck when gas prices soar." I think our problem is we still haven't seen just how far they will fly before coming anywhere near Earth again. And to our pals up in the Great White North - I feel for you guys. But not too much - y'all got easy access to Esso XD. :icon16:

I couldn't stand the amount of money I kept spending trying to keep gas in my Blazer. I have ran out of gas 3 times in the last month. Here the price is $2.53 a gallon. The CBR gets nice gas mileage. It only costs me $89 a month for 36 months for a grand total of just over $10,800. They even threw in a helmet and kick ass Honda jacket. I now have a ride at least for the rest of the summer. Come winter time the Blazer will be back in action as my daily driver.

Last summer I took an electronics class at a local college where we converted a Ranger pickup over to completely electric. Bought the truck for I think $600 and spent about $10,000 (a grant we received) on all the components including batteries, DC motor, motor controller, etc. Removed fuel system, exhaust system, etc. that was not needed for an electric vehicle. Really did it up right. Turned out real well. Will go about 80 miles on a charge and will travel at interstate speeds. Did it just as a project to apply some of the things we had learned in other classes. Well, lately our phones have been ringing off the hook from people wanting one. What's really wild is that when we tell them the cost involved in a conversion they are willing to spend the money.

10 k isnt that bad, why if you bought a kia and had the conversion done your still in it for less then the cost of a gas powered ford or chevy, and have no more patrolium price to pay, and at 40 mile distence (you have to go back home) that would get most people to work, and if they could plug in at work, they could travel even farther and not use gas at all

One problem with a small car is finding a place to put the batteries and also the weight of the batteries. That is why we chose a truck. It is capable of hauling the weight. We put the batteries in the bed for show. They are currently working on an S-10 and are putting the batteries under the bed. We used lead acid batteries, but the instructor is looking into other battery types to reduce the weight (but will also increase the price a lot).

One lonesome station @2.64, rest $2.67-2.74 per gallon. To add insult to injury our wonderful state government announced that starting next year they will base our state tax (over 26 cents now a gallon) on summer highest levels which will raise the tax much further. Walmart's Murphy USA gas stations at their super center locations in my area has gasoline for $2.53/gal but it is shag nasty gasoline. People are lined up to get it. Having just a ten spot in my pocket and a needle hovering over 1/4 tank left I stopped in to grab some. People are in such a panic to GET this cheap gas, squealing around a corner came some old lady in her little gold Honda POS 4x4 passenger car. *BANG* Right into the back of my truck. Luckily I had the tow hitch ball on, as it might be employed in helping a roommate move into my apartment. Anyway, it pushes a hole through the front of her plastic bumper. And there I am with my hands onthe gas nozzle, filling the truck. She gets out and makes out how it is all my fault for this accident. Well, I literally had to kick an old lady...
I told her that she does not have a leg to stand on since I was not even IN the vehicle when it was struck after a tire screeching, blind turn into the back of my truck which now has your little piece of shit stuck on it's back bumper. So I suggest she should get back into the car, put it in reverse, and when I signal her, she is to jam the gas and hopefully seperate. She agrees as I mentally note her license plate....
She guns it in reverse and I put a boot mark on the hood of her car when I give it a good, solid kick to bounce it off my tow-ball. *laugh* People - SLOW THE F*CK DOWN. Gas prices are not going to change in the 5 extra minutes it takes the guy in front of you to pump $10 worth of gas.

Honestly I love the bike but I went a bit out of control. It is oh my god fast and good on gas but I just wanted something to drive back and forth to work. I should have went with the Kawasaki Ninja 250R. At only $2900 brand f*uckin new it would have been a much better choice. Sure it only has a 250cc engine but that will get you where you need to go just as fast as any normal car. They run about 85 and I hear they get awsome gas milage. I was telling a friend of mine how I got mine and he told me about the ninja. I checked into them and MAN I rushed the gun a bit to much. Shoulda looked around a bit more. The 599cc engine of the CBR600RR is just to much for a daily driver. I got my head all swimming with ideas of driving it to the beach and showing off and all that shit and forgot the main reason I was buying one to start with. Now I got a $189 payment when I could have had more like a $75 payment with better gas milage and the ninja looks pretty good.

Here in Miami gas is basically 2.69-2.80 for regular on the weekdays, on the weekends it goes up to 2.75-2.90. And the only way people can get around is by driving their damn cars, no sort of public transportation at all. Yesterday I was out and at the corner down the street from my house, there is an intersection with 4 gas stations on each corner. Shell, Mobile, BP, and Cheveron. All but the Cheveron had regular for 2.70. The Cheveron had it for 2.62!! there was a line out the enterance, litteratly gridlock in the intersection from people trying to get to the gas station. On my way back home about 1 1/2 hours later the Cheveron bumped prices up to 2.69. Absolutley rediculous. I've limited myself 1 tank fill per 5 days. At least $40 for a fill. I remember when I had a Suburban a while ago and would get pissed because it would cost $40 to fill the tank. Man I'm so glad i sold that car. Peace-
