Hey all,
Im gonna fiberglass the outside of my box, paint it black w/ fading flames going into the subs (4 10" Kicker CVRs). I was wondering not as much as what materials i need but how much of it I need. The box is 56" long and about 6.5" wide and 15" tall. I know im gonna need grille cloth and resin and paintbrushes. I was wondering how much of it I need and if there is anything I am missing in materials. Im not gonna gel coat it im just gonna sand it then paint it.
Thanx,
Ethan

if yoour gonna do it your self know what your doing youll need a lot of sand paper but if your only going to cover the outside with it i would use high quality body filler and cover the whole thing to get a hard shell then with out sanding too much get reisn at wal mart no the 8 dollar kit with the cloth in it just the resin canister its pretty heavy buy that for like 12 bux and then some hardener for like 3 bux then just lay your box out and start smothering the thing but do it in layers at a time dont try to build it up do as many layers as you want to desired thickness then let dry for a good few hours the sand the crap out of it til you have as smooth as you want i have seen that priming isnt always nessecary but you should do it anyway when ya prime it make clouds not puddles and spread it out then paint it whatever color just dont pile up on paint cuz it will bubble and mess up the give it plenty of time to dry and harden.it looks real good after your done oh yeah wear rubber gloves things tend to stick to things there not supposed to.
good luck

quit telling people to cover there shit in body filler. I'll write a tutorial this afternoon so people will (yeah right) stop asking this question over and over and other people giving bad advice and information.

The body filler will just crack off. Anything over 1/16" of filler will crack. My buddy covered his whole sub enclosure and body filler and the thing looks like an old lady or the salt flats from all the cracks.
