I have a 96 Ram Sport 5.9 Magnum. Truck never had a problem starting till today. Just as it was about to turn over, it started clicking. The sound was coming from the starter, but I replaced it and it still continues to click without starting. :banghead: What else could be causing this problem? Could it be something else I haven't checked?
Please help...I am going :screwy:
Thanks

Bad battery connection can do that.
Maybe the motor has seized.

Wouldn't the truck overheat or check fluids or something like that happen first? It drove and started fine all day...till it did this...after I stopped for beer at the end of the day.
Checked battery connection first...it's good.

Have you recharged the battery since the starter replacement? Usually a low battery or failing solenoid will cause the to make a clicking sound.

Recheck / retighten the connections at battery and starter. Put a voltmeter on the battery.

Thank you all for your help!
After checking the battery once again, it seems that I bought one that was defective. It starts fine now after getting another battery!
