Need help with a burban

I am trying to find out what year that chevy switched to IFS on a suburban I am looking for one for my wife she likes the '88 and up body styles but I don't want the IFS. Any and all info or suggestions would be great thanks!

By IFS you mean independant front suspension VS a straight axle on the 4x4 versions. A friend has a 1988 4x4 burb with a straight axle. I assume 1989 was the last year of the straight axle on the 1/2 ton.
