'77 X1/9 Missing hood release!

Hi folks,
I just got a '77 X1/9.
First problem: The previous owner gave me a bunch of miscelaneous junk (parts, repair manuals, documentation, etc) which I put in the front compartment and then closed the hood, before towing it home. Once there, I could not find the hood release. Asked another x1/9 owner, who showed me his car's, at the usual place, in front of the driver door. No trace of mine, though (in it's place, a plywood housing for speakers!)
Removed the box, nothing underneath.
How do I open the hood??
Would appreciate guidance. :smile:

Found it, with some help from a knowledgeable X1/9 enthusiast. It's in the glove box.
