I own a 93 ext. cab with a 5.7 that has just started to overheat. Three days ago i saw that the "check gauges" light turned on and noticed that the temp was kinda high. I hadn't used it again till today, within a couple blocks the "check gauges" light came on and the temp was high, then later on teh "service engine soon" light came on. The temp was crazy high by this point, so i added coolant when i got home. later on i went back out and it stayed cool for longer, but eventually did the same thing. Upon returning home i parked and was then asked to move it. but when i tried to turn it on, it turned over but didnt start. im not sure what the problem is, and really need to figure it out soon. any help is appreciated, thanks

well, id assume you have already checked this... but what the hey... is your thermostat stuck closed? my buddy bought an old ford ranger and had to drive it maybe a mile home and he had a stuck thermostat which caused him to melt the undercoating off the bottom of the firewall lol

also, make sure the radiator fins are for the most part in good shape. its amazing how much worse it will work if a major percentage of the tiny fins are damaged by the bugs smashing them silly
