Thinking about a 1996 Rodeo

It's my boss'. His kid is going to college, so he doesn't need it anymore. He said it's been very well maintained. He just spent 700 bux on brakes and CVs and it's now MD State Inspected.

He said it has 120+ K on it. He wants 2000 dollars for it.

Anything I should know about these vehicles?

$2K for a 96 3.2L or 2.2L ??

If it's a 3.2L V6 with only 120K, you've got yourself a FINE truck, take her and run - that's a hell of a deal!

Don't know anything about the 2.2L 4-cylinders, except that's a 5K# vehicle to be pulling with a 4-cylinder.

Where do you want to start? What engine, trans and drivetrain does this 1996 have? IMO- the 1996-97 are pretty good. They are the 'perfected' first gen rodeos.

Ok. I've had it for the weekend and here's what I got. It actually has 144k on it. It's a stick. It rides nice BUT it needs shocks all around and it'll need tires in about 6 months. Here's the biggest concern:

It's got a hole rusted through the frame in the back. Behind the back tire, but in front of the spring mount. Now I'm being told this will probably last a couple of years, which is all I really want.
It's still 2000 dollars and it's inspected (don't ask how it passed, I don't know either).
