Whats involved in swaping stock '99 GST ecu, with a stock '95 GSX ecu? (E-prom) i'm hoping to run DSMlink, that is the only reason for the swap. Also i heard that the E-prom can pass emissions with out a cat? is that true? because, if so... tha would be pretty usefull. Also, what could i expect to pay for the Eprom ecu? thanks guys.

You will need to use the cam sensor of the 95 to make things easier. If not you will have some problems starting up the car. the cam sensor is behind the cam gears, and you should remove 1 of the cam gears to get access to it.

Holy shit black shadow i havent seen you on here for a while. welcome back! How is that gst>gsx conversion?I haven't been here for a while, the forum was changing too much and i didn't like those changes, i hope that now with the new people everything should be better.
Well all the swap is done, the car is running really strong, i just need to paint the 97 front and rear bumpers, so i can complete the 97 conversion.

In this picture you can see the difference between the custom red i used and the stock red.
But the car is running great, i already test it in a little race against a 2000 something corvette, and my Gs-Tx really impressed me, but as i said it was a short race so he could make too much speed.
Returning to the topic; the cam sensor you should try at the junk yard, and the ECU, you can try on Ebay, you have to be really lucky to find an eprom at the junk yard.

Are you guys sure you need a cam angle sensor for a 1995 ecu, It is still a 7bolt 2g. I thought all the 7bolt 2gs came with a crank angle sensor.

According to this site i found on Vfaq: http://www.darklightning.com/gi/1gvs2g.htm
the 95 doesnt even have a cam angle sensor.

All 1g and 2g cars have a cam angle sensor. The 1gs do not have a crank angle sensor, this signal is still required by the ECU, but is generated by the cam angle sensor. For ODB2 misfire detection the 1g cam/crank signals are inadequate, hence the randmon misfire CELs when using a 1g cam/crank sensor on a 2g. ;)
The only needed for the swap is to reverse the order of the plug wires on the coil pack. Put 1 and 4 on the 2/3 coil pack, and vice versa. The injectors are also out of phase, but the effect is minimal. With DSMlink, select "Invert CAS" to fix this. You can even have the DSMlink defaults setup for inverted cas. The magnus or RRE site for 6 bolt swaps describe how to actually rewire the injectors at the ECU, and this was what I had done long before DSMlink.
The best place to get an Eprom ECU is on DSM forums. They come up for sale just about weekly. 250 is the going rate, but sometimes you can get them cheaper.

Don't know much about ECU compatibility within the different years, but looking at OEM part#'s, every year from 1990-1999 has a different part # for the ECU.

90 is an odd year, 91-94 are interchangeable, 95-96 are the same, 97-99 are the same, 95-96 and 97-99 are interchangeable with the plug wire swap. For 1Gs only, there is also a difference between auto and manual tranny ECUs since autos came with 390 injectors. You can swap them, as long as you compensate accordingly with an AFC or similar. The FWD ECUs (might be 2g only) have a speed limiter that the AWD ECUs dont have. I think thats it for ECU differences...

There is a site you can cut the limiter on a FWD ecu pretty easy to do!

will DSMlink work with the stock '99 computer, i would like to do what mitsu_eclipse95gst said... and just cut out the speed limiter. would this work just as good?

The 1g ECU don't have a speed limiter, but it triggers fuel cut @ 7500rpm.

No you can not use your 99 ecu with dsm link But you can remove the limiter.
Here is the link IF you want to take your speed limiter out. See if you can find a FWD ECU cheaper and do the mod to that ECU. Turn it into a GSX ECU
http://www.dsm.org/how-tos/speedlimiter.htm
Do this at your own risk

Yes, 1g, 2g, and EVO are all limited at 7500.

so... DSMlink doesnt work with '99 computer ? even though the site says 95-99??? what you mean get a GST ECU? i have one, why would i want another? you mean an E-prom one? did they make the unlimited eprom for GST's? also, the PCM out of a 95 GS, is that worth anything? because i have one... off the old DSM *RIP*

The only 2Gs to come with EPROM ECUs were the early 95s.

i have a ecu from an Early 95 eclipse GS, is that ECU an Eprom? worth running on my GST? or is it a waste because its off a N/A?

It wont work. You need a turbo EPROM ECU. Found in early 95's as stated above.
