window problem/door panel removel

Recently the front right hand window (electric) failed to do anything, apparently it is off its track.
I found and unscrewed every single screw that held the panel in, that I could find---including the one at the door latch.
I was able to get the panel off very slightly, finding that it could not be removed because of the door latch thing.
Going to my local automotive store to find a manual did no good and asking questions did no good.
Is there a place on the net that describes how to remove the door panel and put the window glass back onto its track?
Could said site also show pictures of the way to remove it?
Can somebody here tell me how? What "special tools" are required?
Is it too hard or too involved for an individual with no training to do and should I just find somebody to do it for me? :eek7:

Over at Hyundai Webtech (http://www.hmaservice.com/webtech/default.asp)you will see the shop and electrical troubleshooting manuals. Now you have to sign up, but its free and just have to wait for the password to be sent to you. If you do not get it within an hour, then just click on the forgot password link and it will be resent immediately.

What year Elantra are you talking about? I have a '99, so if yours is the same body style I can explain how--assuming you are talking about the door handle/lock assembly inside the door?

Ooops, it's a 2000. To be honest I'm not all that acquainted with the Hyundai so I'm not sure if the body style is similar or not.
Thanks for your help.

Thanks, I'll take a look. Seems like everywhere I go in search of a shop manual, they don't have them. They'll have ones for the other ones but not an Elantra...even went to two different Hyundai dealerships, they said they'd have to order the manual. Sheesh. :uhoh:

Well, I think the 2000 is the same as the '99. By the way, I have a repair manual. It is a Haynes brand and I just got it from an auto parts store (it covers 1997-2001 years I believe). They had to order it, but got it quick and it has everything you'd want.

As for the door handle, there is a screw in the middle that you take out first. Then you need to pry out the handle assembly. This is a little tricky as there is a clip holding it in on the top and bottom (they aren't really clips, but are actually part of the piece itself) Try to push down/up on these "clips" to separate the part from the door panel. Once it is out far enough, you will see two pink clips connected to the two rods inside the door (one to the lock rod and one to the door opening rod) (at leas the clips were pink in mine). Disconnect those two clips and you should have the handle assembly out like you want. Just be careful with the pieces holding the top and bottom of the whole part. I broke mine last time I did it.

Hope that helps. Let me know if you need more help.
