So I picked up this package at the post office today not sure of what was in it since itīs been quite a while since I ordered from Hlj. To my great suprise, it was the FG pearl pigment set! This item is now discontinued (not even listed, sorry) at Hlj and it was backordered when I placed my order so I guess I got a bit lucky.
I also recall that I ordered some 19" racing harts and CE28s, and now looking at Hlj.com it says that those items are discontinued aswell!???? WTF?!
Anywho, hereīs what was in the package:
An overall shot of the set, six colors are included, yellow, pink, orange, light blue, purple and green.

The pigments are extremly fine, when they say fine grain they mean it!
http://img356.imageshack.us/img356/7199/dsc070900jj.th.jpg (http://img356.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dsc070900jj.jpg)
Now I know the basics for using these pigments, but I always want to make sure of that so I always read the instructions but in this case itīs kinda difficult...

Anyone willing to help translating the instructions?
Thanks in advance!

I have no idea what the text says, but for pearls they're all basically the same:
1) Paint base color
2) shoot clearcoat mixed with pearl powder
3) shoot clear
For the average airbrush jar I'd try a ratio of one jar of clear to 1/2 scoop of the pearl and test it on something, preferably a lightbulb or something as curvy to make the pearl effect more noticeable. Some pearls are so strong you only need to scoop it with a flat end of a toothpick, but seeing that your set came with the spoons I'd guess it needs more. It's all about the effect you're after.

< The front and back have no significant info except for the product overview like these are pearl powders that can be mixed with enamel, aclyric or lacquer blah blah blah. >
Example 1
Mix 10 cc of clear with one level spoon of FG Pearl
- Top coat over black or similar chromatic color to create a sensitive pearl color.
- Brightness may be lost when used on white or any of the lighter colors.
Example 2
Mix 10 cc of clear with eight level spoons of FG Pearl
- When applied relatively thick on white base coat, it will create a translucent pearl effect like the pearl shell.
- When applied relatively thick on black base coat, it will create the brightest effect.
- On gray base coat, it will create both translucent and bright effect, but the balance between them depends on the darkness of gray.
- When using chromatic color for the base coat, pick the color similar to the pearl.
- Depending on the angle viewed from, the ray reflected on the pearl pigment may be blended with other complementary colors reflected on the base coat, and this effect is more noticeable on lighter base color.
Complementary colors
Yellow : Bluish Purple
Orange: Pastel Green
Red: Green
Blue: Yellow
Lilac: Yellowish Green
Green: Red
* The two mixing ratios are examples and can be adjusted accordingly, but we recommend that you mix no more than than Example 2.
* As the amount of pearl increases, the surface tends to lose its glossiness. If you need a glossy finish, we recommend using clear top coat, followed by polishing and waxing.
* Achromatic colors are black, gray and white. Everything else is chromatic.
Rainbow Pearl
Titanium mica pearl pigment uses refined mica powder coated with oxidized titanium. White pearl pigment, such as the one used in MG Pearl, uniformly reflects all visible rays, while FG Pearls reflect a specific color according to the thickness of the titanium coating--we call it Rainbow Pearl colors. They're also referred to as interfered colors or polarized colors. One of the primary features of the Rainbow Pearl is its strong dependency to the base coat, and understanding its characteristics is crucial to the result. Each product blocks a specific range of colors, but the remaining complementary colors reach the underlying base coat. If the base coat is unabsorbable (like white), the complementary colors bounce back and blend with the blocked color, resulting in less vivid finish. On the other hand, if the base coat is absorbable like black, gray or similar to any of the complementary colors, the rays reflected on the base coat have less effect on the surface, resulting in more vivid finish. Generally, darker the base color, move vidid the finished appearance gets. As such, choosing the right kind of base color for your desired finish is crucial. On a side note, mixing pearl pigments will dull the result, so it's not recommended, unless you desire to do so for your own reasons.
Note
- Recommend using airbrush. Due to the nature of product, it's almost impossible to avoid brush stroke when the paint is applied with a brush.
- Generally, pearl powder settle at the bottom of the paint container easily, so stir paint frequently.
- This product is using a tight-sealing container. Make sure the lid makes the "snap" sound when storing.
Caution
-Don't put the product in your eye, nose or mouth.
-Keep the product away from children.
-Paint in a well-ventilated area.
-Measuring spoons are made out of styrene and may melt in some solvents, so don't use them to stir paints.
<In shot, just mix friggin' pearl and clear and do some experiment. :grinno:>

Thanks A LOT hirofkd, really helpful. Just got back from the test area (kitchen...) and let me say, WOW. I read this reply after had tested them, but still nice to know the recommended ratio. I tested the purple pearl on a white base, and it came out just the way I had imagined. Itīs not visible at all when youīre looking at it from above, but if you angle it a bit the whole thing turns purple! Iīd have thought that airbrushing some green pearl on a black base would have no to very little effect, but according to the instructions it will have itīs brightest effect!?
Very interesting reading, thanks again hirofkd!
Iīll try to post some pics later today but the effect is so damn hard to capture on camera!

I found the stuff at Hlj.com, damn that so called search function, I hate like dust in a clearcoat! Here it is (http://www.hlj.com/hljlist2/?Dis=2&MacroType=Mat&from=detail&Word=pearl)! The Flagship starter set is the one I got. Anyone tried the stuff from Wave?

I've got some of the Wave pearls and they look pretty damn good.
Robrex used the blue pearl in his awesome all carbon fibre Supra.
