Sputtering Issue

Any suggestions welcome. I have a Chevy S10 2.2L, has hesitation and sputters during acceleration. When the problem first started it was just during startup it would sputter until I accelerated and clear up. Now I have no problems at startup it misses on acceleration and every now and then it will hit a plateau and stop accelerating until you let off of the gas for a second. Truck runs fine most of the time when I am drive around town under 50 mph and seems to occur mostly when climbing hills. Also when I reach a steady speed problem seems to be gone. I added some injector cleaner and dry gas problem has been worse.

Fuel filter, and a tuneup wouldn't hurt either

ok i changed the fuel filter, plugs and wires and still had the problem. I had my fuel pressure tested and it was low (35). I just went ahead and had the fuel pump changed. NOW the problem is half as bad but still there. Yes and my fuel pressure is still low so the fuel pump was usless.

About 2 years ago my check engine light came on with a error p0113, i replaced the sensor and the error came back within a month. My truck never drove any different so i never had it fixed thinking it is the wiring harness. DO YOU THINK THIS COULD CAUSE THE PROBLEM but my spuddering issue just started 4 to 5 weeks ago. OR could it be my transmission but like i said sometimes i have the problem when i am stopped.

My mechanic call me today with the bad news, he found a little oil in my air box by my throttle body. Said it is most likely a ring that is causing blow back. Anyone have any suggestions of something I can try to add and seal it up?

It's in a silver can, and it's called engine restore.

I've never used it, but I have several friends that tried it and swear by it.

you know overboard i never noticed a loss of oil or any oil leaks. I change my oil ever 3000 to 5000 miles and never had to add oil in between. i just don't know if it is causing the spuddering issue.

I am experiencing seemingly Identical hesitation/stumbling problems AND the Intake Air Temp. sensor error. Replaced it - no joy. Check Engine light returned and has been on for a year now. ON THIS subject I found the following links:

NOTE: JPG diagram shows shorted/faulty refrigerant-pressure-sensor (bottom, AKA "TPS") on same circuit as Intake Air Tempertaure sensor.
I haven't replaced the "TPS" yet, but it seems like a good bet since A/C has also been flaky/usless for a year or so.

i resolved my p0113 error i replaced my connector and the sensor both this time. I order the connector from GM direct (item number 12102620 CONNECTOR 3.682).

Hey Clubich, Thanks for the PN/GM Direct tip. The connector-huh? H'mmm. I gave up screwing with wiper connector and just drive in rain without wipers ( I wish there was a simple fix for that...)
Who/what caused you to question the IAT sensor connector?

This only fixed my service engine light being on because of a P0113 error (Air temp High)

I'm a member on grandamgt and seen the fix for that issue on their forum. I ran my truck over a year or two before I finally fixed it. That wire runs down into a Y in the harness. Just disconnect your battery (needs to be disconnected for about 10 min) then remove the tape, cut the wire. Install the new connector then re tape. Very simple the new part has 2 white wires so make sure you mark one of the wires. You should replace the connector and the sensor both. Total cost is no more than $30. My light came on 1 other time since I just reconnected everything a little better and reset my battery again and never seen the light since. Now I’m laughing when I say I am sure it will come on for me now!

Now I finally did resolve my sputtering issue after some help with a friend it turns out I bought some junk wires from advanced (the cheap ones) My friend had me buy ac delco and we replaced fixed my issue quick. All this after i replaced my fuel pump an expensive mistake.

Again, thanks for tips. Admit I was skeptical re: your connector-fix for Air-temp sensor error-code - a bit more since you saw error even after fix. Perhaps you twisted the wires together instead of something more "positive" like a crimp or soldered connection...

Plug-wires? Jeeze. If bad SP wires can cause this symptom, I suppose a bad Dist.Cap. could too? Anyway, I won't pull the fuel pump! :)
