do they make any rwd auroras in any year greater than 95,

i saw a 1999 oldsmobile aurora gt1/agt in the SCCA sportscar classified and was wondering how i could get my hands on a rwd aurora for a street/track car.

there are no street legal auroras with rear wheel drive. maybe someone has done a whole crapload of mods to make it rear wheel... the bad boys like the the GT1 are no street legal. i know the IRL uses a super modified engine which redline at 10,500rpm and has no low end torque. have fun getting off a stoplight with that.

if you want something that would rip the roads up at 500+hp and be street legal, i'd recommend doing some performance mods on a 4 banger. cars that come to mind are the dodge srt-4, chevy cobalt, mitsubishi lancer evo just to name some. those cars weigh anywhere from 1000 to 1500 pounds less than a stock aurora. right away it's faster and more nimble due to that. they also come with air induction options from the factory (not sure bout the mitsu) which give them more horsepower. they are all 200+ at the wheels from the factory.

1500lbs light + more wheel horses + awd/rwd + manual tans + air induction = fast

as i've found trying to do it, an aurora is not a race car. it is however one of the sweetest long distance cars out there. i wouldn't want any of the above mentioned cars for a 5 hour trip. they might be fun at the track when you get two turbos in them though ;)

i have thought about those cars but i am dead set against any front-wheel drive car unless there is a possibility of it being rwd. plust i went back to the website and this is it

if what u say about the aurora is true, then i guess i have to look at another car that isn't majorly popular but would still be a sick ride if properly built, plus im sure i could fit a 4.6/5.4 in, i mean its rwd, so the major problem would most likely be motor mounts, and there is no way i would spin a motor anywhere past 8000rpm, i mean, look at the s2000, strong engine, just no torque, and thats the one reason i refuse to get an rx8

if wanting to spend the money, there is a turbo in production for around $5,000

THAT AURORA WOULD BE QUICK AS SHIT

yeah but it would kinda suck to have a turbo that's worth more than the car.

that link with the GT1 - i'm gonna take a wild guess and say they gutted the interior and everything that makes it an aurora has been removed.

one thing that really seperates the aurora from every other car on the road is how much time was put into the interior. there are very few cars out there with nicer looking interiors. i'm not talking stupid lcd panels or other crap. i'm talking about making the necessaties seamless. a stealth cupholder. automatic climate control, vent direction and automatic rear view mirror. the leather trim with wood accents and chrome door handle. you'll be hard pressed to find another car like that.

if you're just looking for speed, there are a lot of cars that do that well. if you want 600whp like that gt1, just get an evo 8 and put 2 turbos, ecu reflash, 4 big injectors, big fuel pump and nitrous on it. you'll be smoking '05 mustangs with that.

or go out an purchase a 20,000 dodge srt-4 which will outrun the aurora with it's turbocharged 2.4L i4.

well i guess that puts the idea of a rwd aurora out of the picture
i am looking for a rwd car that isn't heavily popular but would still be unique on its own, but each time i think about it, the list seems to be getting smaller and smaller, someone help me. i'm staying away from fwd, sort of with awd, and seriously avoiding japanese cars, which puts mustangs, camaros(other random rwd american car) and european cars (europeans are too much money for to little go). are u guys absolutely sure about a rwd aurora as being way too much time and money, i mean, approxiametely how much are we talking here
