My 1979 corvette L82 shop manual recommends I use something called "RVT seal" on the valve covers when I replace them. What is that? Is that in addition to the gasket?
Thanks,

I wonder if it is a typo. I have used RTV sealer. A silicone sealer made by GE. you can buy the permatex ultra black , just as good of silicone sealer and a little less expensive. They are talking about installing the gaskets wet with sealer.

RTV stands for "room temperature vulcanisation" it is a silicone sealer. You can use the permatex or I personnally have used "Right Stuff" gasket maker for years. It is the only O2 safe, fuel, oil, and trans oil resistant, That I know of. It actually creates a gasket for you. It is a little expensive but worth the Monry in the long run. Hope this helps
