Hi guys,
I recently found a white 1994 blazer. It has some body rot around the bottom of the doors but I figure considering the year that some body rot or rust would be evident.
I am going to call on it tomorrow because I really need a car.
They are asking 900.00 for it and states it has high milage on it.
When I go to look at it closer is there anything I should be aware of or leary about.
The interior is clean and as I said I need well car/ either suv or minivan and having it be 4 wheel drive hopefully will not be a curse.
Any insight you all can give I would be extreamly greatful for.
Thanks,
Joe

The doors should be an easy fix. The 4.3 engines are known to last a very long time especially if they are taken care of. For $900 I would say go for it. Even if there are a few problems its not a bad deal. Just make sure to check for major problems. You might get a mechanic to come look it over for you.

Thanks Red LT,
I forgot door rot aside 2 other things I found when looking outside the car.
2 the talegate lock well the back part of the metal cylider is there but the actual key chamber is well missing?
Also on the passanger side door there is no key tumbler to unlock the passenger side door!?
I am thinking I may be able to get the parts from a junk yard and just replace them and have them rekeyed or wait to see what you all say or reccommend!
Thanks again,
Joe

Look at the VIN number through the driver's lower portion of the front window and tell me if it is a 1Z or a 1W.

Ok I called and talked to the guy. 1 he wants to get rid of it. 2 It has 200,000 miles on it. 3 He has had the injectors replaced. 4. It was his girlfriends car and they put a couple grand into the car.
When I asked him if he had a kid would he let the kid buy it he saiod if the kid knew about cars yes if they didnt then no.
I dont know a whole heap about cars but am more than willing to learn.
Kind of torn between buying it and haveing it break down and no clue how to fix it or buying it and it running for a few years and get a better car. He said its rough around the edges and that sometimes it wont start right away. But he didnt mention anything major being wrong with it yet.

If you have a little mechanical ability and a few tools, we can probably talk you through a lot of different problems. If you got the $900, I'd go for it. I sold my 89 s10 Blazer for $1200. and it was running fine and had 197,000 miles when I sold it.

Spend $30 and have a mechanic completely check it over bumper to bumper.
Even if it is cheap, it could have some major problems that will have your wallet draining faster than any sports car.

Thanks to everyone but I decided not to buy it.
I heard it start up and it really sounded bad, rough idle occasional misfire even an occasional backfire!?
Just seemed like too much to deal with.
