thats weird that they would decrease the power and torque... maybe its a typo?

No, not a typo.......it's because of new horsepower measuring standards....

I read that the 05 and 06 engines are identical and the corrected horsepower ratings also apply to the 05's. I'm not sure where I read it; maybe it was the ClubRSX forums. It also said that the 06's will now offer the magnesium exterior with the ebony interior. Which was exactly what I wanted. I love the magnesium paint, but not grey interior. It's all good though, I love the blue.
I read a few months ago that Acura would offer the RSX supercharged in 06. Has anyone else heard anything about this, or is it just a rumor?

I won't be able to sleep tonight thinking about the 9 extra horsies I thought I had.....
I'm SO PISSED OFF:swear::swear::swear:............No j/k

I hope they'd be smart enough to go turbo instead of supercharging this motor. But a Honda with a FI engine? I'll believe it when I see it. Whatever happened to that rumor about the AWD turbo TSX? That was a tease...

Hey paul, long time no see, eh?

There is no loss in power, it is the identical engine. Its due to the new SAE hp/tq formula. SAE is soon to be a CARB Standard, so Honda and Toyota have already switched over to the new system.

Supercharged RSX? If anything the rumours are leaning to discontinuing the RSX, not slapping on an SC. I doubt the SC is going happen.

And Honda has a turbo jet ski so :p

AWD Turbo TSX? That was rumoured by someone who went to Honda Japan. The AWD TSX is a reality in Japan, but not the turbo part yet.

will the '04-'05 add-on mods fit on the '06 ??

like exhaust intake etc..??

MOST 02-04 mods work on 05-06.

I think the intake and exhaust might be different actually....

As for exterior, the hood, mirrors, sides, and fenders are the same.

Yes, it's true! The '06 has only 1 more HP over the '04. :grinno: :grinno: :grinno:

Just kidding. Like it's been said already, the new SAE standard is in place this year so we can finally make an informed decision of which car has more HP! It was kind of weird seeing the '05 with 210 hp and the '06 with only 201 hp!!!!!

I thouhgt the 05 rsx-s had 210 hp. I read that somewhere. But i guess not..

Both the 2005 and 2006 RSX have 210 horsepower under the old system for obtaining horsepower. However under the new SAE formula they both have 201 HP.

Yes, I was just kidding in my previous post. With the old system, the 05 is said to have 210 hp. With the new SAE standard, that dropped to 201 hp since they use a different method to determine hp rating than what Acura used previously. One thing I would be curious to see is how much the <=04's are rated with the new SAE standard. I'm assuming 191 hp.

This is actually a good thing because now we can compare hp of different cars without having any manufacturer biases. Now the hp rating is easily comparable between different makes and models.

What I really don't understand is how some GM cars are posting higher numbers (or so i've heard) under the new SAE system...at most I expect the ratings to stay the same...

From what I gather, it seems that GM has been using a more conservative approach. I know that the Z06 'vette went up from an expected 500 hp to 505 which is not that much. It just might be that the Japanese used a different system to measure hp. I'm just glad that everone is now confoming to one standard.

I know the standard formula is

(Torque * RPM)/5252

whats the new formula changed to?

I think the new system is just that all a/c and a few other things ahve to be running for the dyno. I might be wrong.

There's an article in one of the car magazines showing how all the Japanese models seem to have much less hp than quoted. Toyota/Scion seem to differ by quite a bit.

As far as the new system, I don't know what the factors involved are. According to this article - http://www.detnews.com/2005/autosinsider/0508/17/A01-283759.htm, they have tightened the factors involved in measuring hp, so that there is little "wiggle room" as they say.
