Stereo problem!

The other day i was driving in my Echo and the speakers suddenly went out. The volume was hardly turned up. But then it made a single crackle and just went out. It does not buzz or hiss or anything. What's the problem???

I had a problem like this in my 1994 saturn sl2 it was playing mint then it just cut out.I ask my dad to help me with it and the speaker wires in the trunk were grounded to meatel on the trunk make sure it is not grounded and that might work if not let me know I ahve another idea
