My Father-in-law motor looks like that. In the ten years he's owned he never changed the filter or oil. What a waist......

You have permission to punch your father-in-law in the face.

This is a 1989 S-10 and the oil was changed 3-6 times in 200,000 miles.

Looks like my old man's POS 59 Ford motor he had back in the 70's. Busted the oil pan and could not afford to fix it right. Had his brother to weld it up, no drain hole. Drove it for 2-3 years without changing the oil... And oils back then had little to no detergent.
I guess it says a lot about the way this motor was built. Most would not last 200,000 miles with this lousy care. Do not see how this one made it. Can't be any bearings left, no way.

From what is being said, it doesn't run too bad.

It runs and the bearings aren't gone yet.

Egads, that is just terrible! Is that complete lack of care, or coolant contamination we are looking at? Interesting to see relatively clean cam lobes and I think what must be one good lifter in there. The rest of it looks like....chocolate taffy.

Just a SEVERE lack of oil changes.

I just pulled my intake and put on a new one and my engine may have 243 k on it . I have only had it 1 1/2 years . but mine was very clean on the inside . The cam lobes look good because these engines have roller tip lifters . At least mine does . That motor needs a good boiling . looks like it was run hot for a long time . Rob

Still needs some serious internal cleaning.
