Confused about 1996 Rodeo Keyless Entry

Just bought a 1996 with a Keyless Entry alarm system. Just not quite sure how it works. I have a two button remote. The top button locks and unlocks the doors with a "beep" or a "double-beep". I am not sure what the other button does. I tried playing with and set the alarm off a few times. There is also a button inside that supposedly opens the tailgate, but it doesn't seem to be doing anything, either. There is nothing in the manual about this either.
Any other '96 owners with this system that want to tell me how it works, I would appreciate it.
Thanks!!!

that extra button on the remote is more than likely for the trunk popper. your trunk actuator is out of commission it wont work on the alarm or on the dash if that peice is malfunctioning if you replace it it should work fine in both places.

Is it this remote?

That's the one.
I think the system is not working right at all. Sometimes it arms/disarms while it locks/unlocks the doors as it should. But other times it just locks/unlocks without "chirping", sometimes it has a long loud continuous beep for about 5 seconds, sometimes the alarm sounds. I have just not been using it.

Have you changed the battery? The remote might just need a new battery - or maybe its worn out and ready for a replacement...

Did that. Not a big deal, though...car theft doesn't happen too much in these parts. And nobody is going to be too interested in a factory cassette player and sound system.
