Temp sensor

Hey... My temp gauge on my 3rd gen is all messed up, Its stuck all pointing all the way up, I took apart the cluster and it was literraly wedged against the black bevel thing in there, i pushed it off and it sat fine, but the next time i started the car, it jumped back up and got stuck again... Does anyone know if this would be a problem with the gauge or the sensor? The sensor looks like someone has messed with it b4, and I can't remember how to test those, does any one know how? or should I just go get a new one anyway?

Just about as common as rusty a-pilar on a 3rd gen.

I solved this on my older camaro after doing the same as you as couple of times and getting po'd with it. I bent a small paper clip up and ove to block the needle from hitting the trim, and painted it black with a sharpie, worked fine for years.

do you know WHY it does that? so if I put something there to block it, it should work just fine?
