Airbag Maintenance on a 1999 Chevy Prizm

Can anyone tell me what the maintenance Schedule is for a '99 Chevy Prizm. My Sister-in-law had an accident w/ hers and the airbag failed to deploy.
I don't know much about airbags. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
