Ok i have a 93 eagle talon tsi fwd.

Everything was running fine then i took it to my dads house to see about the alt belt, and i decided it was to late so i just looked around a bit, topped the fluids off. Well i took out the air can to rotate the filter and noticed that the top and bottom parts of the MAS we kinda in bad shape.... ok ill just get a different one some time soon. Welll i but everythig back together the way it was and when i was pulling out on to the main road, i turned the wheel to the left and i eard what sounded like crackling, the kind electronics make when they go out, then all of the sudden i dont have any power stearing. None, its gone, then on the top of that my car decided to over heat like hard core and antifreez ws coming out of the resivoir. I prolly fof got to snap it back on tight. So now my coolent temp, battery and E-break light are all on and wont go out. The e-brake isnt hooked up at all and the battery is brand new, same with the alternator

Any ideas?

Your power steering pump just took a shit. Same thing happened on my old car, it just stopped working.

As for the overheating, it sounds like you have blockage in the coolant pipes. You need to flush the cooling system and refill with a 50/50 mixture of straight coolant and water.

It sounds like your Alternator belt broke. If it didn't snap, check behind the driver side wheel and look at the the pulley that is attached to the crank where the alt. belt runs off. They have been known to split in half. This belt runs the water pump and power steering which makes sense why it overheated and you lost all power. Check that and get back to us.

Yeah same thing happened to my friends car. Check to see if they are running when the car's on.

Ok im holding the slotted belt in my hand. that is the only one that is gone. Its running from the crank to the alt. From what i can see, and feel, the other belts are all there and feel tight. But the pump isnt turning and im not sure if the power steering pump i dont believe is turning either.

Ok i just checked it with the car running (had to use my otehr car to jump it) and the, i believe the power steering belt, if thats what it is, is turning. The Alt. belt is not attached, and the water pump isnt spinning at all. Its still attached and tight, just not turning.

The water pump and power steering are driven off the alternator belt. There are 2 pulleys on the water pump. The inner pulley has the power steering belt on it and is linked to the steering. The Outer is linked to the Alternator. If there is not ALT belt I don't see how the power steering is turning and not the water pump since they both are driven off the alt belt. Just curious if you still have your air conditioning? That would yet be another belt and you might get confused. The power steering pump is closest to you when the hood is open and directly below it is the alternator.

Oh i thought that that was the water pump. Damn that makes alot more sence, the pwer steering pump then isnt runing anymore..... Would pics help this, b/c i can take some right now and post em up later. I guess i have alittle bit more to learn about Japanese engines. Im a VW guy and my friend got me into talons.

Ill get em up later today.

Ok, heres the thing. Your power steering WILL NOT work without the alternator belt on, nor will your water pump. The first picture you are looking at is the water pump pulley, with 4 bolts. Behind that is another pulley that connects to the power steering pump via that belt. Get your alternator belt on there or else you won't have a running alternator, power steering, or water pump.

Only 90-92's, well most 92's, were blessed with the 6 bolt.
