Vibration from rear...

Hi

Hope someone can help

Ive had my 3.0 zed for about 6 weeks from a main dealer so have a warrantly etc. The car has done 41k. Its already been in a couple of times to check a rattle/vibration from the underside rear of the car (at least it seems like there)

Firstly I was told nothing could be found.

Then secondly the rear silencer/back box/exhaust tip section was replaced as apparently it wasnt sounding quite right and maybe something inside of the silencer section was moving around. They also checked the cat and it was ok apparently.

Anyway after having this changed the vibration is still there. It happens usually when going slow (eg going around corners, pulling off, going around roundabouts etc) and annoys the hell out of me...

Also should mention that the other prob I have at the moment is a 'clunk' affect when changing gear sometimes, best why to describe it is that it feels like the gearbox is going to fall out :s

Anyone any ideas as I can see this being one of those things that they cannot locate and I will have to put up with...:s

Shock top mounts are possibly worn out. Or some other sort of suspension bushing

As the sound seems to be coming from the rear right underside section I bounced the rear right section up and down and found the suspension to be squeeky, other sides where ok, could this be related?

Balancing weights might be missing from under the rear bumper. These are 15lbs weight, under the rear bumper, and are often removed to save weight. they were designed to help reduce vibration at the rear end.

As for the cluncky transmission - this is normal. It is especially noticeable when the car downshifts - some say the more pronounced the clunks, the longer your tranny will work, so don't worry about it too much. Some also recommend chaning lifetime fluid in tranny to reduce the clunking effect.
