91 corolla taillights

Alright, on the 91 corolla dx version, on the trunk in the back where the lisense plate sits is a like a plate with false taillights. Thhey don't light up, they just act as reflectors. If you take that off, then how would you get the reflectors off and apart from the rest of it? I was thinking of putting some lights or something inside.
