I was drivin my 1997 1500 Dodge Ram when it just stopped, completely no bogging or sputuring, just cut right out. I got it home and found the Engine Control fuse blew, so i replaced and it blew again about a mile down the road. Then i found a wire comin off the ignition coil just hangin like it got ripped outa summin, I also found that when this wired gets grounded the truck will not start or if u start it then ground the wire the cuts out like it did before. But i cant figure where that wire goes or why when i tape that wire off that the Engine Control fuse still blows out or if theres any connection between the two. I've looked up wiring diagrams in my Haynes manual but it didnt help. Any ideas would be greatly aprecciated im really stumped on this one.

Hi KX, John Murray here. I just checked on my 97-1500. Mine has a 5.9L engine. Coming off the bottem of the coil are 2 wires, a smaller black and a larger green/with orange stripe. Both go into a shield which runs up behind the alternater, bends 90 degrees toward the firewall and plug into a connector under the air cleaner back a bit from the alternater. Hope this helps. Good luck. John M.
