Cruise Control

OK, got a cruise control problem. I've had my '97 Aurora for about two years. Great car - had a few diy repairs/replacements, but no big deal especially with all the great advice on this forum. Anywho, my cruise is no longer working. I turn the switch to on, push in on the set button (on the the turn signal), the green 'Cruise' light comes on the dash (after I push the set button), but no cruisin'.
I searched the forum. I will check the switch on the back of the brake pedal, and I have already tried rapidly switching the on/off switch (to no avail). There seems to be some mention of vacuum hoses and switches - but not real clear what is called for. I have not checked any fuses yet - getting the rear seat out is not 'that' easy.
Anyway, thanks for your time. Look forward to hearing from you.
Brian.

This is a really stupid question I'm going to ask you. Please bear with me. I have no desire to insult you or anything. OK. Shall we assume that the throttle cable coming front the cruise modual under the hood is properly connected to the throttle body? I'd look real close at the cable. There might be a break in it. You would never know about it really, especially since 90 percent of that cable coming from the cruise modual is shielded in that plastic tube. It's possible that your car is indeed trying to maintain speed and might actually be trying to use the CCM cable to operate the throttle. Of course, any cable break would render Cruise usless.
Anyways, hope it's not anything to serious. Keep us updated.
