AEM V2 Intake

Hey, I have a galant and I know that the engines in both the Eclipse and the Galant have the same codes so they both fit.

Having said that, I was told to purchase an Intake system that I can change from a full CAI to a Short Ram. I was told it was the V2 from AEM, but I have not seen that anywhere in the V2 description.

Anyone know what the hell they were talking about?

the only engine that the galant and eclipse have had in common is the 4G64 (in the base galant and 2G eclipse Spyder/3G Eclipse GS) and 4G63 Turbo (in the Galant VR4 and Eclipse Turbo). I don't think they make a V2 for the 4G64 or turbo 4G63.

Why not ask the guys in the galant forum?? They would know more about your car than most of us!

I would like to help you but I dont know anything about that car. I can tell you their is almost ZERO diffrence in performance from any CIA on the market today. It all has to do with filter design. You could goto home depot and by PVC pipe, stick a K&N filter on it, and it would give you the same results. You pay for the Bling factor of having their name branded onto the pipe.

Well all I know is that the air filter system is the same for both cars, Im more interested in the changable intake from short ram to full cold air intake.

Please explain what you mean.

Please explain what you mean.

Start by telling us what year and engine you plan on putting this intake on. AEM does not make a CAI for the 4g63t. Not sure about the 4g64. I am running the regular AEM CAI on my eclipse, and love it. I paid $106 shipped to my door, new. Gotta love ebay!

They charge another $80 MSRP price for the V2, which is basically the same exact thing with an extra bend in the pipe. Try to find somebody selling a slightly used one on ebay or something to save money. :2cents:

I have the V2. I got it for free but I know it coast around $250 and up. Dunno about HP difference between the Cold air and short ram but I bet its not a lot and not worth the extra $100-150.
I can tell you one thing though, the car sounds totally different and the intake is loud as hell :). I have actually been asked if its a turbo since after about 3000rpm's, the intake is loud as fuck when starting to suck up air. I love it :) but would never pay the $250+.

Its for a 01' Galant. Here is what I found out:

8G Galant: 1999-2003 I4 engine code is 4G64
3G Eclipse: 2000-2005 I4 engine code is 4G64

So I know that it will fit, Im just looking for a interchangable intake system that lets me convert the full (long) CAI to a short ram (short) RAI.

Im going to go looking for a Injen, my buddy has a AEM, we don't like the performance, someone told me to go with Injen so I will try that.

In that case ask the guys in the 2000+ Eclipse section.

the 8G V6 Galant and the 3G V6 Eclipse both come with the same engine... the 6G72.

In my opinion, the V2 is a waste of money. way too expensive. I would go with an Injen also(thats what I have). Almost any CAI can be converted into a short ram.

I just ordered a Injen Tube Style Intake for $202 total. Its supposed to be longer than the ram air (more take off) and shorter than the CAI (more top end and no water problems). So Im satisfied.
