ticking

I have a ticking noise when I first turn on my car after it has been sitting for a while. After running for a few minutes it goes way and isn't heard again until I start the car after it has been sitting for a while. It only ticks in the lower rpms at first gear, maybe lower second. But like I said it never lasts very long. Any ideas, or should I not be worried about it?

Could be your Evaporation Contole Sensor, or basic lifter tick.

Got both on mine, not to mention bad AC belt that squeks. Im sure you've poped the hood and located it, where is it comming from?

Considering I don't have an ac belt, I know it's not that. I cut that belt off long ago when my compressor took a crap on me. As for those other two things. I have no idea what they are.

Since it only ticks when you first start the car, that makes me want to say that the oil pump may be going bad. You may not be getting enough oil through the engine and to the head, but as it warms up the ticking goes away because the oil gets hot and thins, making it easier to pump. Either that or you have the wrong grade of oil. Common lifter tick is also a possibility, it happens to a lot of DSM's.
