Exhaust question.

I've been looking at some exhaust options for my truck. I just put a CAI on my truck and now that it is inhaling better, I want it to exhale better. I want to replace the muffler but everything I looked at was going to cost $75.00 and up just to replace the muffler with a more free flowing one. I was wondering if I just removed the muffler and welded a piece of straight pipe in it's place, would it jack with my sensors? Any input would be appreciated.

The sensors would not act up but the exhaust would sound really bad.

I would really like a Ravin Z 55 but the one place around here that sells them wants $125.00 to just swap mufflers. The cheapest i've found is a generic turbo muffler installed for $75.00. GOD I wish I had a welder!!!

Is that including the cost of the muffler and the installation?

Yeah. They want 70.00 for the Ravin muffler and 55.00 to put it on. The generic muffler was 36.00 and 40.00 to put it on. I asked him the why difference in installation prices and he couldn't explain it. Looks like i'll be going out of town to get my muffler done. The place I called is the only muffler shop in town.

Nothing wrong with that price at all.
They will have to install a pipe extension to make up for the difference in length when you go to the ravin.
Trust me, that is a good price and is well worth it.

Has anybody here use the Cherry Bomb brand turbo mufflers that look like a small regular muffler, not the long red tube ones. They are only $30 at Meijers and were temping to try to put in myself.
