It is trying to tell you that it thinks something is wrong. If you take it to a dealer, you can have the code read and see what it reports as a problem.
However, if you are not experiencing any problems - shifting is good, up and down, etc., you can disconnect the battery for 20 minutes and that will clear the light. Sometimes the light is set when there is not a real problem.
If the light returns, consider it a real problem and get the code read. You may have a small problem that can be fixed without major $$$$.
If you are due for a tranny flush - new fluid and filter - Then now is the time to do it.

Again, if the transmission is shifting smoothly and you have no apparent problems, a fluid flush and a filter may get rid of the light. Might as well see what the code is tho.
Problems like shuddering when shifting, hard shifts, revving of engine some between gears, delayed shifts, indicate bigger issues.

Well, in U.S. dollars a flush and filter is about 125.00 to 150.00 Not sure about that exchange rate, but I think he is pretty high.
Get the best auto trans fluid you can. A well known high quality brand name. Fluid is the key to making the transmission run smooth.
A good tranny shop can probably read the code, and do the flush. But you have a U.S. built vehicle I think, so it may take some legwork to find a shop familiar with it.
