1997 driver side door lock and handle will not work

For a while now, i would have to insert the key and turn to the right a few times to get the door to unlock. Now the keyless, nor the key will unlock the door. help

You door latch mechanism needs replaced. When mine on my 98 sport started going, I was able to unlock it after carefully manually locking and unlocking the door and using the inside handle to get the mechanism to open it. You have to play with it.

If you get it to unlock leave it that way, and take it to somebody for replacement. Just tell them don't let it lock!

It is definately a mechanism. I could take the side of my fist and smack the door under the lock then hit the unlock button and it would pop.
