:newbie:
Greetings, folks! Yes, I'm a newbie to the board; I found it while searching online for something a little more user-friendly than the repair manual I have. The section relating to "fuses" was a little less than helpful to me, so I hope that someone with more experience can walk me through my question.

First of all, a bit of background information:
1996 GMC Jimmy, small SUV.
Power Locks, Power windows, power mirrors...

Just within the past couple of days, I had three systems quit on me. Specifically, the overhead light (the one that switches on when a door is opened) the power mirrors, and the power lock mechanism for the rear door. Since all three killed at the same time, I suspect that a fuse might be involved. Both I and my husband visually checked the small fuses and they seem to be in working order. There are, however, two fuses that I haven't yet been able to test...one seems to control the power windows (which work just fine) and the other one is labeled "PWR ACCY"

Silly question of the post: Just what does ACCY stand for? Could this be the culprit fuse? (None of the other ones seem to account for the affected systems, and most other functions appear to be in good working order) Or am I way out in left field regarding the problem...and if it isn't a fuse, what do you recommend that I do?

And, yes, I'm barely a novice when it comes to fixing cars. But if the problem is a simple fix, far better I do it for only the cost of replacement parts, rather than pay a mechanic huge amounts in labor for something that can be done myself within one hours' time.

I welcome any and all suggestions.

it stands for accessories..You may want to check it to see if it is blown also.

Good idea. We got a fuse tester, and tested it...it works. The associate at Checker we spoke with says it could be a relay or a short. Looks like I get to clean out the glove compartment...

Well, what do ya know?!! It was a stinkin' fuse!!! How the heck did I miss *that* one. I was certain I tested them all...

...grrr...

Oh well, problem solved. ;) Thanks!!
