anyone have this problem?
I get a LOUD rattle in low revs in reverse and 1st gear?
and sometimes at idle
Sounds to be coming around the cat, just a rough guess
Any suggestions?
its a metal on metal sound

sounds to me like one of your heatshields is loose. pretty easy to fix with a large hose clamp

Might be the heatshield on the cat or the heatshielding that protects the car from the hot exhaust. Just put the car on jackstands or on a lift and take a look for something loose underneath.

There is a hetshield bolted around the cat and there is also heatshielding above the exhaust system on the undercarriage

Yea I have the EXACT same noise, I jacked up my car onto a tilt and revved the engine to listen and feel where its coming from.. When the mid pipes flow exhaust out they vibrate and the heat shield is not touching your mid pipes completely, leaving a 1-3 mm gap so thats where your noise is coming from. I grabbed the pipes with a cloth and it stopped. I know fourthgenhatch found this aswell all you need are some pipe clamps and fasten it around the pipes and heat shield so they cant vibrate. I cant find the right parts so I'm taking it to a muffler shop...mo money.
When I step off the gas right when its idling the vibrations will start for a few seconds and then go away, thats all...

usually the reason its loose is because the metal rusts where its bolted to the car. just take a broomstick while its running, and put pressure on the exhaust in different areas till you find the rattle

Just look at your piping, at the curves of the pipe theres another layer of flat metal between the body and the pipe. Just jack up your car if you dont know what i mean.

I had the same problem (especially when the AC was on) so my mechanic took the heatshield off... now I'm wondering if that was such a good idea...

im gonna go ahead and say i had the same rattle. and i used the ol broom stick thing to find were the rattle was and it ended up that i was missing a bolt down by the cat. end of story.
