01 es swap to srt-4 trany??

i have a 01 es and i am planning on swaping the 2.0 for the 2.4 turbo, do i have to swap the tranny to or will the stock es tranny work ?

the stock tranny will work, depending on if its auto or manual it may be a better idea to do the swap. the tranny in the srt is a beefier transmission and will hold up to more power for longer, but of course adds money to the swap. the auto has better gearing, but will be a bit more sloppy unless you have a way of firming up the shifts. either way will work, just depends on how complete you want it

the manual transmission from your car has shorter gears, which would make drag racing better, but i wouldnt want to auto-x with it, you will spend a lot more time shifting. with the broad torque curve that the car makes, you can leave it in gear and do the whole run in a single gear. with a standard neon manual tranny, you wont be so lucky
